About

Me

My name is Nathan Loveland.  I have been making things out of Lego bricks since the early 1980s, but I've been building plastic models of every kind and scale since the mid 1960s.  I also used to paint 25mm lead figures for use in D&D, but frankly I hate painting models and figures because it's tedious work I'm not really good at, so Legos are my preferred miniatures building material.  Also, I can make really satisfying custom stuff with Legos a lot more easily than with sheet styrene and glue.

Of course, it's sometimes not possible to find a Lego part, figure, or color that is exactly what I want, at which times I absolutely make unapologetic use of X-acto tools, Dremel, pliers, glues, Sharpies, & paint sticks.  I also make my own inkjet-printed stickers using Paintshop Pro.

I understand some people are Lego purists who won't use non-Lego parts or kragle or—god forbid—mutilate a Lego brick.  I am not one of those people, and frankly, I find the idea that a part can be used 'illegally' just cosmically stupid.  I'm not 10 years old and Legos are just plastic toys after all—and there are always more bricks to be had from Lego, Bricklink, eBay, BrickForge, yard sales, and kids too small to stop me from stealing theirs.
